About Us
Founded in 1969 by Brian Singer and Doug “Claw” Warbrick, Rip Curl has grown into one of the most recognized and respected brands in the world. From day one, we’ve been at the forefront of surf and snow culture.
Rip Curl is built by and for the crew on The Search. That Search is what drove us from the beginning, and it runs through everything we do. It’s what makes us different. It defines who we are. The products we create, the events we put on, the athletes we back, and the people we connect with around the world—all of it is part of the same Search.
We remain a company built by surfers, for surfers. For over 50 years, we’ve led the way in surfing. Our goal is simple: make the best gear, run the best events, support the best athletes, deliver top-notch customer service, share a strong brand message, and bring together the best crew. That’s how we stay focused on becoming The Ultimate Surfing Company.
Part of that vision means having the best surf team on the planet. That’s always been true, and it’s never been more true than today. Our athletes are world champions. They’re innovators, dreamers, role models, and searchers. From global superstars to up-and-coming local talent, wherever you find the best surfing, you’ll find a Rip Curl sticker on the nose of the board.
We also run an incredible lineup of events, headlined by WSL Championship Tour contests, the worldwide GromSearch Series, and a range of international surf and snow competitions. We were the first company ever to sponsor a pro surfing event—the 1973 Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach—and we’re committed to keeping that tradition alive, bringing the best surfing to fans everywhere.
Rip Curl will always stay true to the grassroots that made us who we are. But we’ll also keep pushing forward, taking riding to the next level. We know what we’re doing, and we’ll be around for a long time.
